Sometimes, a graphic design project doesn’t always go the way the client or the designer wants it to go. Often, these problems can be worked around, especially if you are working with a professional design team that it willing to work with you to ensure that they can resolve any issues, however, there are some ways that a client can help the designer to get the job right the first time.
Meet with the designer first – as logo design and graphic design often has such a personal element to it, it is a good idea to meet with the designer. By doing this, it is much easier for them to get a better idea of what you want and the impression that you want to convey. The designer can learn more about you, your business, and what you really want the logo or image to say about your business.
Be clear – just occasionally, clients aren’t clear on what they want. They can tell the designer exactly what they don’t want, and have some suggestions of the type of outcome that they would want to see, but sometimes a client finds it difficult to express exactly what they are looking for. However, the time to tell the graphic designer what you want is before they start working on the project, and if you really don’t know, work with the design team to develop ideas.
Communicate – poor communication can lead to difficulties with any project, but with graphic design, communication really is key. You need to communicate with your designer throughout the entire process, and don’t expect them to guess what you want or need. Make sure that you work with them so that you can discuss any problems during the design process should they arise, and always be prepared to communicate exactly what you want.
Be open to suggestions – sometimes, a business or organisation will have a clear idea of what they want, however, the design or logo might not work for some reason. If a designer raises concerns over your ideas, don’t take it personally, instead work with them so that they can help to deliver the best quality design or logo for your business.
